Places to Eat and Drink

Harleston has a variety of places to eat, drink, or pick up a snack.  Whatever you're looking for, from a full sit down meal, a light bite at lunchtime, a lovely coffee, or a simple take away to eat at your leisure, there will be something for you.

Most of the places are in the town centre.  For those that are outside of the town centre, we’ve included walking and driving times from the market square.

The Old Kings Head

A Grade-II-listed building with origins dating back to the 13th Century. Specializing in stone-baked pizza, pasta, salads, dough balls, dipping bread (with beautiful olive oil), hand made puddings, home-baked cakes, lovely coffee, and teas. A vast selection of gins which is currently numbered at 148 and still growing! Not forgetting a great old world wine list and ever increasing beer list:  All the real ales are from East Anglia along with the ciders and house lager. Outside of town centre: Car 11 mins.

Yakety Yak Tea Room

At the Yakety Yak Tea Room's have created a welcoming atmosphere with the 1940s and ‘50s era vintage tea room on Bullock Fair Close.Choose from 18 varieties of loose leaf tea, served in a traditional teapot with bone china teacups and saucers. Enjoy handmade cakes, scones and cream teas in the best British tradition.The extensive menu also features breakfasts, sandwiches, ploughman’s and salads.The tea room is wheelchair accessible and has high chairs for toddlers.Private hire can also be arranged, for your own special function. Owners with dogs big and small always welcome.

The Red Lion

A charming 18th-century public house, the Red Lion offers the finest traditional 'pub grub' with a splendid selection of local beers.Fresh, seasonal produce with unusual twists on old favourites are always available.The Specials Board changes regularly taking advantage of the best the local markets have to offer.At the rear is an extensive decked terrace with shade from sun and rain!There is a beautiful, large and secure garden suitable for children, with a bouncy castle, swings, slide and a sand pit.There are also guinea pigs and fish to keep youngsters amused whilst the parents sit back and relax.1.9 miles outside of town centre: Walk 37 mins, Car 8 mins.

Tudor Bakehouse and Coffee Shop

The Tudor Bakehouse coffee shop in Harleston serves a range of hot and cold freshly made snacks and drinks.Pop in and enjoy a slice of pizza, filled jacket potatoes, bacon baps, pies, sandwiches, sausage rolls, salads, and wraps as well as the famous Tudor Bakehouse spuddies. Treat yourself to a delicious freshly baked cake, biscuit or pastry as well as a variety of coffees, teas, and soft drinks.The Tudor Bakehouse is licensed so you can also enjoy a glass of wine over lunch.

The Swan Hotel

If you to want to see the sort of Inn that our coaching forbears knew, then stop at the Swan at Harleston. King Henry VIII was not long dead when the oldest part of the building was erected. You can be sure of a warm welcome and friendly service. A delightful building featuring original 16th-century beams, enormous inglenook fireplaces, and an arched courtyard. The hotel serves traditional food in both the restaurant and bar and has a locally renowned carvery on Sundays. It also features a large function room and luxury hotel accommodation, perfect for business visits, corporate events, functions and wedding parties.
