Local traders have always been an important part of Harleston’s rich community life. Wednesday is still market day as it has been since 1259, with stalls in the Market Place and home-produced food available at the Harleston Country market at King George’s Hall from 9.30 to 11am.

Traditional family butchers, selling locally sourced meat, from farms in surrounding areas which supply beef, pork, and lamb. Brownes have been curing and smoking their own bacon, gammon, and ham for over 20 years using local pork, using curing methods which take weeks and not minutes, unlike manufactured bacon and hams. Brownes Bangers” boast over 30 different flavours, including traditional sausage which has been made from the same recipe for over 70 years. Farmer's Kitchen stocks local produce made, grown or produced within the Waveney Valley. Fresh and frozen pork, sausages and bacon made from our own pork and other meat from local farms. Local and seasonal fruit and veg, fresh bread delivered daily, sauces, preserves, frozen goods, and gift items. Home-baked cakes and scones as well as rolls and scotch eggs to take away.
